Ms Finance App Reviews

Easy to use, does what I need

Ms. Finance makes it easy to keep track of my checking account. Smart data entry saves keystrokes by suggesting fill-ins for information that I would otherwise have to type. Reconciling with online bank statements is easy, thanks to being able to view either current estimated balance or balance based on reconciled transactions. Automatic backup helps when I mess up reconciling. Search function would be better if it accepted wildcards, but export to spreadsheet is straightforward and my spreadsheet has a good search function, so that’s not a bad drawback.

Love It

I have used MS Finance for a few months now and I really like it. I would like it to remember from month to month the amounts, but otherwise it is very user friendly and has keep me balanced for months.

finally found a checkbook app that works and works WELL

I downloaded this app about 1-2 weeks ago and it seemlessly installed and I seemlessly set it up. What I like is that it is so easy to use, I set up 6 accounts (2 personal-checking and savings, 2 business-checking and savings, and 2 credit cards). Super easy to set up. And super easy to import the downloaded transactions from my accounts on the web to reconcile. And the budget is so easy as well! I had one little minor glitch which I was able to contact the developers about, and had a response WITHIN AN HOUR! Amazing! And they were able to fix the issue for me, WITHIN THE NEXT HOUR! I was given instructions on how to delete the app and reinstall it with the fix, no data lost, no problems whatsoever. I REALLY like this app, and it is so worth spending the $ on, both for the ease of using the app AND the customer service/support.

Came Back

I had used Ms Finance and then went to another program because I could sync with my iPhone. However, I missed being able to split transactions and also Ms Finance is not cumbersome. Easy to create accounts and budgets. I would like to see some enhancements in the reoccuring items. Please add the ability to do split transactions and fund transfers. For example, spliting auto and home insurance amounts and being able to auto transfer funds from my checking account to my savings account since it is automatically done at my bank. Currently, I had to create separate deductions for each account. Otherwise, everything else is very very easy!

Third Times A Charm…Almost

This is the third finance program that I have tried. This one has almost everything that I need except… 1) Can we have the CREDITS and DEBITS in their own columns? It would be good to see at a glance what they are. 2) Transfers need to be a bit easier. I kept entering them as a negative when it shouldve been a positive. I finally figured it out but its kinda clunky. 3) Transfers need to be able to be deleted. I was playing around trying to learn stuff and couldnt delete them so had to completely delete the account and re-import. Had a bit of a problem with importing my old Quicken files across. Had to actually export them from Quicken as CSV files and import them that way. Oh well, as long as the information comes across I am good.

It’s ok.

I don’t like the idea that there is not a “debit/credit” option so you have to be very careful on +/-.

Love MsFinance

I have been a Windows user for 35 years and recently purchased my first Mac. On my Window’s pc’s I have always used Quicken. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase MsFinance. It is a great application and I highly recommend it.

Balancer checker and Budget stats great!

This is a good piece of software and well worth the money. I have used other budget software from the app store and this is a great product. Highly recommended.

help needs to be more explicit

use to use Quicken and then bought a Mac. MSFinance is a great program and easy to use. I wish the help was more explicit in their information

Still happy with this App

I’ve been using Ms Finance for almost a year and still really like it. Highly recommend it for ease of use and reports.

Good but not the best.

Bought Ms. Finance because CheckBook Pro quit - due to silly glitch in receipt file that prevented it from working (Apple fixed it in about a week). Meanwhile, I bought Ms Finance just to see how it compared. I like CheckBook Pro better overall, though the Ms Finance layout has a more appealing looking interface (subjective) and switching accounts is more convenient with Ms. Finance. One thing Ms Finance could do would be to split the so-called “ref” field into two - one that notes the type of transaction (check, online pay., direct deposit, etc.), and the other that gives a check number if a check was written. Right now the available reference types are limited to just four, whereas CheckBook Pro has 11 - better for organizing. Ms. Finance will cost you $20, whereas CheckBook Pro can be obtained for free from the Apple Store. Nevertheless, I like both and will continue to use both to help better compare the two.

Have grown to like this program

I have grown to like this program. I was using Quicken for Mac, but they didn’t have a new program out (as promised) to go with my Leopard OS. The reconciling part of this program is quite different from Quicken, but now that I am used to it, it works just fine. I don’t need lots of fancy budget and accounting details…basically just a checkbook that reconciles each month. Works great for that!!!

Great App

I use this for my personal finances, to keep things in order. I had issues with exporting from my accounts and Earl was fantastic, quick to respond and very helpful. I like this more than Quicken.

entering transactions could be quicker

It would be nice if you could enter the transactions straight into the register then hit enter to to enter the next one. Also it would be nice if you could just click off each cleared transaction instead of opening each transaction separately. Both of these things would make it quicker and easier to use

Excellent program

I love this little program. It does what it does and it does it well. It works beatifully in my home finances, and I can see how it will work well for a small business. The tool has allowed me to see, by way of using the open budget system, a full snapshot of my finances. I love how it projects out 2 months what my bills are going to be, and some simple calculations will show me exactly where I stand on any given day in a simple financial forecast. This is exactly what I needed, and I’m loving it. It’s easy to use. Definately recommend.
